It’s not vengeance! It’s Punishment!
“In certain extreme situations, the Law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the Law. To pursue… Natural Justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive. It’s a emotional response. No, not vengeance, Punishment!”
“They laugh at the law. The rich ones who buy it and twist it to their whims. The other ones, who have nothing to lose, who don’t care about themselves, or other people. All the ones who think they’re above the law, or outside it, or beyond it. They know all the law is good for is to keep good people in line. And they all laugh. They laugh at the Law. But they don’t laugh at me.”
He is known as The Punisher!
It’s easy to imagine Frank shooting up criminal hideouts and blowing off the heads of mob bosses as the ultimate punishment for their crimes. But it’s hard to imagine (even believe) that there is also a very gentle side to The Punisher that no one knows about except for a very few handful of people who actually saw and were amazed at him doing something no one has ever thought he could do with his violent, blood-stained hands– play the harp. A gentle, stringed musical instrument no one would ever thought that The Punisher would have any talent for. When he’s not shedding criminal blood and punishing the guilty in the most brutal and deadly ways, Frank spends a lot of time in his one of his numerous safe houses gently and tenderly plucking, strumming, and caressing the strings of his harp. Why, you asked? Because Frank is doing this in memory of his family whom he communes with through songs, poems, and prayers as he gracefully waves his battle-scarred arms and hands across the strings to fill his private family shrine with stirring harp music that moves Frank to joyful tears.

The Punisher: My Gun, My Harp, and Me
It’s hard to believe that the violent hands of Marvel Universe’s greatest and deadliest anti-hero is the very same hands that tenderly sweep across the strings of the harp. This is a gallery collection of drawings and photos I made celebrating The Punisher’s portrayal as a harpist as well as the most dangerous anti-hero the Marvel Universe has ever seen. All Punisher, all harp, no Stinkin’ Deadpool except for a few posts where I express me and Frank’s hatred of him.
The Punisher was created by Gerry Conway with the help of artists John Romita, Sr. and Ross Andru. His name coined by Stan Lee. The Punisher is owned and trademarked by MARVEL. The idea, concept, and inspiration behind The Punisher’s portrayal as The Punishing Harpist who plays the harp in memory of his family is in fact my own. Sweetest. Idea. Ever!
